Cured-in-place sewer pipe lining in Camden
Cured-in-place pipe forms a continuous new pipe inside a damaged one, using a resin-saturated tube hardened in place by heat or light. This page covers how the liner is designed, installed and verified in Camden, and which laterals qualify.

What a cured-in-place liner is
A cured-in-place liner starts as a flexible tube of needled felt or woven glass fiber, cut to the measured length of the lateral and saturated with a thermosetting resin. Installed inside the old pipe and inflated against its wall, it is cured into a rigid pipe whose shape is the shape of the host. The result has no joints from end to end, a smooth interior, and enough structural strength to stand on its own if the clay or iron around it continues to deteriorate. The old pipe becomes a form rather than a working component, and the liner carries the load and the flow from then on.
Qualifying the host pipe
Before any liner is ordered, the lateral is jetted clean and inspected on camera. The installer is looking for a pipe that is still essentially round, holds a continuous downhill grade, and has no missing sections. Cracked clay, open joints, root-damaged joints, pitted and scaled cast iron, and Orangeburg that is still circular all qualify. A collapse, a flattened section or a deep belly do not, and are directed to pipe bursting instead. Bends are measured for angle and radius, and transitions in diameter, which are common where cast iron under a Camden County basement meets clay outside, are noted so the liner can be designed to accommodate them.
Installation from cleanout to main
On the day of the installation, the tube is wet out with resin on site or delivered pre-impregnated and refrigerated. For a lateral, it is usually inverted: pushed inside-out through the cleanout by air or water pressure so the resin side turns outward against the pipe wall as it travels toward the main. A calibration hose or bladder holds it inflated during the cure. Once hard, the ends are trimmed flush, the connection at the main is finished, and branch lines serving fixtures in the house are reopened with a robotic cutter guided by camera. The water is off for the cure window and back on the same afternoon. the verified CIPP installer for Camden is the verified installer covering Camden and installs laterals year-round, since the work happens below the frost line and the cure is heat-driven.
Resins, tubes and cure methods
Three families of resin are common: polyester, which is the economical standard for sanitary sewers; vinyl ester, for elevated temperatures and chemically aggressive flows; and epoxy, which bonds more strongly and shrinks less, and is widely used for small-diameter laterals and lines inside buildings. Cure is driven by hot water, steam or ultraviolet light; UV cure uses a glass-fiber tube that yields a stiffer liner for a given wall thickness. The right combination depends on diameter, length, temperature, the condition of the host and what will flow through the pipe. A clear explanation of each is published at the cured-in-place pipe reference, and a proposal should name the system it specifies.
Thickness, flow and service life
A lateral liner is a few millimeters thick, and because its interior is smooth, the finished pipe usually carries flow as well as or better than the rough, root-filled pipe it replaced despite the slightly smaller bore. The design wall thickness is calculated from the depth of the pipe, the groundwater level, and the loads above it; a lateral beneath a roadway is designed heavier than one beneath a lawn. Properly installed liners are rated for a fifty-year design life, and they are unaffected by the freeze-thaw cycles, high water tables and settling fill that keep breaking open-cut repairs in this territory.
Documentation and warranty
The finished job comes with a pre-lining video, a post-cure video showing the full length and the reinstated connections, the material and cure data, and a written warranty. Keep them with the deed; a point-of-sale inspector or a buyer's plumber will want to see them. Installers verified to that standard are listed at the verified installer directory. Lateral ownership and permit practice vary by municipality in New Jersey, and the contractor confirms the rule for Camden before quoting. The inspection consultation is free.

Questions we hear about sewer pipe lining (cipp)
Does the liner shrink the pipe's capacity?+
The wall is a few millimeters thick, so the bore is slightly smaller, but the interior is smooth where the old pipe was rough, scaled and partly blocked by roots. In practice the lined pipe carries as much as or more than the pipe did before, and far more than it did in its failed state.
Can a liner be installed through a basement cleanout alone, with no digging?+
Yes, when the house has a cleanout with straight enough access. Where there is none, a small opening at the foundation or a short excavation at the property line provides the access point and a permanent cleanout is installed there. Either way, the yard and the street are not trenched.
What happens to the branch lines from the kitchen and bathroom?+
They are covered by the liner during installation and reopened afterward with a remote cutter guided by camera. Each reinstated connection is filmed. Lines inside the house that tie in above the lined section are unaffected.
Will the liner last through decades of New Jersey winters?+
The liner is a thermoset composite pipe installed below the frost line, with no joints for frost or ground movement to work on, and it is rated for a fifty-year design life. Freeze-thaw, high groundwater and settling fill are the conditions that break open-cut repairs in Camden County; they do not reach a liner.
How do I get a quote?+
Call or send the form. The crew jets and inspects the lateral, gives you the video and a written finding, and quotes a liner only if the pipe qualifies, with the method and footage spelled out. Estimates are free; call now.
